You SPHINX so?

Am mulling over ideas for my new book which will be set in an imaginary Sheikhdom of golden sands, azure skies and palaces of impossible beauty.
What would you call YOUR imaginary kingdom?

I have several book prizes to give away - so send me your entries now!

  1. Good luck with the competition! Sheikhs stories are always intriguing…

About the imaginary Kingdom’s name… Has it to be imaginary too or has it to mean anything in Arabic (?) – the most famous word I remember in Arabic is “I love you” since a charming Egyptian man deeply fell in love with me some years ago… (yes, it’s true).

    Book prizes? Here’s my entry!

  2. Can't wait to read your entry, Michela - and wonder what happened to the charming Egyptian man?

  3. Sharon - here are the names I've thought.

MAKHARIAN or KARISHAN; some more exotic names might be BANSHIR or YANSHIR.

  7. Golden sands, azure skies... I love your description, Sharon. I can almost smell the Jasmine.

I had to look this one up, but my suggestion is "Jannat al-'adn". It means Gardens of Everlasting Bliss. A close second was "Jannat al-na'im" - The Gardens of Delight. I like that one, too.

Good luck, Sharon! (Great photo, by the way!)

  8. Gosh, these are all brilliant....Gardens of Everlasting Bliss sounds even better in English, Dan!

Good news - my book (with Russian hero, Nikolai Komarov) has just been accepted and will be called TOO PROUD TO BE BOUGHT.

Will run this competition for a few days longer as I'm enjoying it so much - and don't forget that you have a last last few days to enter the NEW VOICES contest at: http://www.romanceisnotdead.com/

  10. Yes! Congratulations, Sharon! You already know that I can’t wait to read about Kolja (good choice!) and the title is intriguing too.

Sadly I’ll have to wait longer here in Italy…
