NEW VOICES SECOND CHAPTER

Hope you've been following the exciting writing competition being run by Mills & Boon.
There were LOADS of entries of an impressively high standard and Romance HQ had a tough time trying to decide who should go through to the next round.

Congratulatons to all you who were successful - and I include those of you who didn't make the short-list. To enter is to prove that you're serious about your writing - so DON'T GIVE UP. There is a long list of successful authors who had to try and try again before they got published.

The ten short-listed then had to produce a second chapter. These will face the public vote to be whittled down to a further four.

Below are the three books I am mentoring - and you can click on the links to read the fantastic writing on offer:

by Cady Phelan

by Carrie Spencer

by Lucy Snowe

I love, love, LOVE them!
Have you read them yet?
And more importantly: HAVE YOU VOTED?

  2. Joanna - you have really cheered me up on a morning where my new iphone is not yet working (reinforcing my hatred of technology!) and I am panicking about my latest book!

  3. This is exciting. Some talented new author's life is about to be changed forever. Good luck to the finalists!

And Sharon, don't panic. It's going to be brilliant. Joanna is right; they're very lucky to have you!

  6. Congratulations to all those who were successful in the competition and a great “Don’t give up” to the others… a dream is always a dream.

Sharon, don’t get into panic! Sometimes we just need to stay away from the object of our panic for few minutes (well, unless you’re entrapped in a cage with a starving tiger!) and do something different.
When I need to find concentration my remedy is 15-20 minutes of yoga with classic music and after tiding up the house with some good noisy music as… Led Zeppelin, for example.
It works – seriously! Later I can focus on everything.
Anyway, I think it’s a former soldier’s voice speaking here… we learnt to be calm in every situation.
Last two days I’ve been to Roma and admired Van Gogh’s wonderful art exhibition at “Il Vittoriano” and it was amazing.
Art has a relaxing power and it seemed you could… taste all those colours with eyes, fingers (metaphorically!) and soul.
I think I’m going there again next week since I’m staying in Roma for six days.
A second time is always better.
And look at “Il Vittoriano” by night – it’s a must!
